INJURY-HIT Caldy were defeated 18-49  by league leaders Ealing Trailfinders who ran in eight tries at Telegraph Road.

Ben Jones opened the scoring for Caldy through a penalty although the lead did not last long, as straight from the kick off, Bobby De Wee went over the line after a great break from Biyi Alo.

Moments later the visitors stretched their lead when Reuben Bird-Tulloch scored his first of the afternoon thanks to a breakaway from Michael Dykes down the wing. The strength of Alo was too much for the Caldy defence as he powered over to score Ealing's third of the afternoon.

Bird-Tulloch's second of the afternoon secured the bonus point for the Londoners and Caldy seemed to have no answer.

The visitors came out firing in the second half and their powerful lineout allowed Richard Hardwick to extend the lead further.

Joe Sproston scored on the hour mark to bring Caldy back into the game.

The sixth try came when Dan O'Brien showed good handling across the back and opened up space for the winger to dive over. Pat Howard made it seven after an O'Brien breakaway allowed him the space to score.

Ollie Hearn went on to score to make the score respectable with the conversion expertly slotted away by Matt Kilcourse.

A scrum in the final minute was pushed over the line with Mike Willemse getting the final touch.

Caldy's next match is in two weeks time away at Hartpury College. The Gloucestershire side are the only team Caldy haven't beaten either home or away in the Championship.
