THE manager of a Wirral housing service for people with a range of learning disabilities has been shortlisted for a national industry awards.

Liam Randles, service manager at Sanctuary Supported Living’s Cardigan House in Birkenhead is in the running for the Housing with Care Manager award at the 2024 Housing with Care Awards, after being put forward by his colleagues.

He was recognised for his 'people first' approach to management, which has fostered a positive work environment and translated into high-quality support for residents—evidenced by excellent audit scores and inspection results from the regulator.

According to his nomination, his dedication to a 'you say, we do' philosophy not only advocates for residents’ rights but also emphasises autonomy and personal choice. With a committed team and a willingness to embrace positive risk-taking, he has enabled significant achievements for people on their pathways for independence.

Organised by Care Talk magazine, the national Housing with Care awards recognise and celebrate the highest standards in accommodation and services for integrated retirement communities, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health needs, retirement villages, assisted living, extra care housing, supported living, and shared lives schemes.

Liam along with other finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges in mid-May, before attending the awards ceremony at the Hilton London Bankside on Friday June 7, where the winners will be announced.

As well as Liam’s successful shortlisting, Sanctuary Supported Living has also been named as a finalist for 16 other awards at the event, including the Housing with Care Employer award.

Director for Sanctuary Supported Living, Dave Shaw, said: "Achieving 17 finalists is a new record for Sanctuary Supported Living, and it fills us with immense pride.

"Our team’s exceptional achievements and the recognition they have already received at this year’s Housing with Care Awards are truly inspiring. It’s a moment of celebration for all of us at Sanctuary Supported Living, as we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do."
