THE Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team were called after receiving a Mayday radio call.
On Saturday, April 27 at around 1.37pm the team was tasked with rescuing people whose boats had become stuck under a ferry terminal.
Two vessels had gotten into difficulty on the River Mersey and ended up under the Stena Ferry Terminal at Twelve Quays in Birkenhead.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Marine Rescue Unit were also in attendance and rescued the people who were in “distress”.
A spokesperson for Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Thanks to the Liverpool pilot vessels who responded to the Mayday call and the Stena staff, at the terminal.
“This incident shows the importance of a VHF Marine Radio and knowing how to use it.”
