A FOUNDATION in memory of Elle Edwards has become an official charity.

Elle was fatally shot in the head by Connor Chapman while she was standing in the smoking area of the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey on Christmas Eve in 2022.

The 26-year-old was out celebrating the festivities with her sister and friends before Chapman, of Houghton Road, Woodchurch, opened fire with a Skorpian sub-machine gun just after 11.50pm.

Elle, who was caught in the crossfire, was shot dead while five other men were injured.

In July 2023, Chapman was jailed for 48 years for the murder of Elle, 22 years for the attempted murders of Kieran Salkeld and Jake Duffy, seven years for wounding, 18 months for assault, 15 years for possession of a firearm and three years for stolen property.

While his accomplice Thomas Waring was jailed for nine years for helping Chapman burn out a stolen Mercedes used in the shooting.

Following the trial, Elle's dad, Tim Edwards, set up The Elle Edwards Foundation.

Tim vowed to "keep her name alive" by setting up the foundation in her memory to help other families affected by gun crime while raising awareness about anti-gun and knife crime across the world.

In a statement posted on Facebook today (Tuesday, March 26), Tim, said: “I originally made a promise to Elle and the family that I would spend the rest of my life making sure Elle was never forgotten and her name would be mentioned somewhere every single day in a positive way.

“So after 15 months of hard work and getting everything right the best I could and building a team of people that were the best we could get, today I can finally say that The Elle Edwards foundation is now officially a charity. Charity number is: 1207609.”
