MERSEYSIDE Police is trying to reunite a collection of "precious" old photographs that were rescued from a house fire in Wirral.

On Friday, March 22, Merseyside Police released images of the photographs that they recovered following a fire at an unoccupied house on Cross Lane in Bebington in 2023.

The force believes one of the men in the photographs or a member of his family may have worked for the British Insulated Callenders and was also a member of the Air Training Corps 1123 Squadron in 1944.

Also in the collection of photographs is a postcard from a family holiday to Pedwell Hill, Ashcott, near Bridgewater in 1965.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “If you recognise these photographs or are part of the family pictured, they are with the General Enquiry Office in Birkenhead where you will need to confirm the surname of the family pictured so we can make sure they go to the correct person.

“Please share this message as we would love to reunite these precious photographs with their family members.”
