COUNCILLOR Justin Madders has been re-elected leader of Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council in its final year.

As the leader of the controlling Labour group, Cllr Madders was elected for the second time at the full Council meeting on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old, who lives in Little Sutton, also works as a solicitor specialising in employment law at the firm Thompsons, acting mainly for trades union members.

He is married with three young boys.

He has lived in the borough since he was 11, and has represented his home ward of Ledsham on the council since 1998.

He has also just been appointed as a councillor for Central and Westminster ward at the recent elections for the new shadow authority.

"I'm privileged to have been elected as leader in the council's final year," he said. "I'm well aware of the challenges ahead as the existing borough council becomes Cheshire West and Chester council in April 2009.

"I will continue to work with, and for, the residents of Ellesmere Port and Neston. I am conscious that at this time of change it is important we have a strong and clear voice for the borough. I hope I will be able to provide that."
