Four years on - killer still free
 |
| VICTIM: Peter Singleton was shot down |
POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information about the shocking murder of a West Kirby man four years ago.
Monday marked the fourth anniversary of the death of 26-year-old father of one Peter Singleton, who was shot dead outside his apartment on Column Road.
His mother Colette Singleton said: "Our lives have been totally destroyed by what happened to Peter and will never be the same again.
"We live this nightmare every single day of our lives and we need to catch those responsible for Peter's murder so we can at least try to move on.
"If anyone does have information which could help the police track down those responsible for Peter's murder they should contact the police as soon as possible."
A masked gunman shot Peter Singleton just after 7.30pm on March 27, 2003, as he stood with his girlfriend and their three-year-old son outside their apartment on Column Road.
He suffered injuries to his head and stomach and was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where he later died.
As part of the murder inquiry detectives have travelled to Scotland, Manchester, the North East and Kent.

The investigation into Peter's death is continuing and officers are now calling for the public's help again to gather more information about the white Vauxhall Astra van that was used in the murder, and to trace the two men seen leaving the scene.
The movements of the white Vauxhall Astra van used by the gunman and his accomplice to travel to and from the scene of the shooting in Column Road has been an important line of the inquiry.
After the shooting, the van sped off along Grange Cross Lane and was found burnt-out shortly afterwards in Carr Lane, Moreton.

Two men of youthful appearance' wearing dark clothing were seen entering Westry Close from the footpath which leads from Carr Lane, and they ran off in the direction of Millhouse Lane.
DCI Ian Mulcahey said: "We are certain that Peter was targeted specifically, and we need the assistance of the public to help us with the inquiry.
"Firstly - where did the two men go after they left the white Vauxhall Astra van on Carr Lane? It is possible that after the van was set on fire, they left in another vehicle, which was already parked in the area.
"Perhaps you saw two men acting suspicously near Westry Close on the evening of March 27 that year, and can tell us what you saw.
"Secondly, when the shooting took place, the van was using false registration plates, number KP52 XGD. The blank registration plates are unique, with a green band around the edge of the plate face.
"These were made and sold to traders across the UK by one company - Signam Ltd, in Warwick. If you are a trader who bought plates from Signam to make up in your shop, you may be able to help us.
"If we can find where the plates were made, this will help us trace the person who used them on the van."
Officers have re-issued an e-fit of a man who they would like to speak to with regards to the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call the incident room at Stanley Road Police Station on 0151 777 8677, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
