Firemen rescued terrier from blaze

A YORKSHIRE Terrier was rescued by firemen tackling a blaze in a first floor flat in Rock Ferry on Saturday night.

The dog was found in the drawer of a double divan bed in the property in Bedford Avenue.

A 27-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation and was taken by ambulance to Arrowe Park Hospital following the incident, which occured shortly before 6pm.

The bed and carpet were severely damaged by fire and the remainder of the room and contents were damaged by smoke. Three further rooms had sustained moderate smoke damage.

Smoke alarms were fitted by fire officers at the scene.
